David Draiman Responds To Parents Concerns Over Disturbed’s Safety
Disturbed frontman David Draiman recently addressed the comments he got about kids participating in the band’s shows. The frontman took to Twitter about the ‘danger’ concerns a user tweeted about.
The user mentioned the now-viral video of Draiman seeing a young fan singing the band’s songs at a show, leading him to invite her to the stage, but she ends up getting scared. The video continues as Draiman apologizes to the girl and her parents and makes a speech about being safe in the crowd and the show.
The Twitter user shared her concerns about a young girl being in the front row of a Disturbed concert as a reply to another user’s tweet about the loudness of the show. Her tweet read:
“Yes that too…I was referring to this video going around of David Draiman interacting with a really young fan on the rail. Sweet interaction, but all I could think of was why that young of a child is front row of a Disturbed concert?”
The frontman reassured the user that the band’s shows are a safe place and also admitted not understanding why their shows would be dangerous:
“Because any young child, who is accompanied by their parents, mind you, is quite safe at a Disturbed concert, I assure you. I’m not sure what danger you think they’d be in? The very worst they’d have to endure is hearing a bit of profanity.”
The user then claimed Draiman minimalized her comments about general concert safety and, to which he replied with the following:
“I didn’t choose to minimize anything, because the area in front of our stage is a controlled space and no one is moshing up against the barricade. We have young children up front just about every show, we’ve played all summer long, and thank God, there haven’t been any issues.”
The same user wrote that she was happy to hear that there haven’t been any issues in the shows and made it clear that she did not imply anything towards the bands, and it was just an example because she had seen the video right before tweeting. She also shared that she would be concerned to have a child in front of a pit. The frontman responded:
“That’s a personal choice each parent has to make. Children are in danger everywhere in some way. Crossing the street. In school. Even at home in certain situations. All any of us can do is use our best judgement for our own children.”
